Our verdict on Capital Index

Capital Index is a pure-STP broker, founded in London in 2014 by industry veterans who wanted to create a broker for serious traders. It quickly started winning awards, including STP/ECN broker of the year, and has grown substantially ever since.

Capital Index has taken a simple approach, with decent spreads across three account types, FCA regulation and MT4 support rounding out a solid offering aimed at experienced traders looking for a no-frills approach.

Is Capital Index Safe?

Capital Index is regulated by the most traditional regulator, giving traders the security of knowing that their funds are secure. Capital Index Group has been regulated by the FCA (license 709693) since 04/12/2015, and the SCB (license SIA-F199) since 2019.

With the sporadic and enthusiastic industry praise for their commitment to quality services and their trading environment, Capital Index won awards for Best Forex ECN/STP Broker and Best Forex CFD Broker 2017 (UK Forex Awards) and Best STP Forex Broker 2016 (Online Personal Wealth Awards). These accolades are a powerful admission of quality and trust from the journalists who report on the industry.

Capital Index relies solely on the industry-standard MT4 platform for trading, which is a reliable software option founded on high-speed execution of trades and dependable data feed imports.

The sound software offering, traditional regulation and industry recognition for their quality in fulfilling trading services, makes Capital Index safe for traders.

Trading Conditions

The trading conditions are why traders come to Capital Markets. Everything here is no-frills but sturdy, where the spreads that are published are closer to reality than what others in the industry publish as part of a marketing campaign.

Trading Accounts

Capital Index offers traders three different account types called Advanced, Pro and Black. With each increase in account type, expect tightening spreads and larger trading increments in exchange for more substantial deposits. The Advanced account has a minimum deposit of 100 GBP/EUR/USD, and the Pro account has a minimum of 5,000 GBP/EUR/USD. The Black account is an exclusive trading account with a minimum of 50,000 GBP/EUR/USD and is by invite only.

Each of the accounts offers a wallet in GBP, EUR or USD; no requotes, no dealing desk intervention, hedging and allows Expert Advisors.

Deposit & Withdrawal fees

Capital Index charges no fees for deposits or withdrawals on Bank Transfers, Debit or Credit Cards. If requested, a Bank Transfer can be processed the same day where an expediting fee of 15 GBP/EUR/USD will be charged.

Capital Index for Beginners

Capital Index is not intended for beginner traders, as educational material and analysis are minimal, and customer service works exclusively with account-related questions. Capital Index only supports MT4, and it is an almost certainty that a beginner trader will need assistance to set up the software and customize the settings before commencing to trade. As Capital Index lacks this support and documentation, it hardens our notion that Capital Index is designed for the veteran trader.

Educational Material

Trading guides are available which introduce basic trading concepts like currency pairs, risk management, and order types. Capital Index leaves the advanced trading education, videos or webinars to other industry players.

Analysis Material

As with the educational material, Capital Index does produce in-depth reporting every month, but nothing significant coming from their analysts.

Customer Support

Customer support is available 24/5 via telephone, email and live chat. A robust complaints procedure is in place, as per regulation, and the customer support team operates under a mantra of treat clients fairly.

Capital Index Trading Platform

Capital Index solely supports the MT4 platform. MT4 is the usual choice for traditional STP brokers because it is the industry-leading platform due to its high-quality execution.

Evaluation Method

We value transparency and openness in the way we review the partners. To bring transparency to the forefront, we have published our review process that includes a detailed breakdown of the Capital Index offering. Central to that process is the evaluation of the reliability of the broker, the platform offering of the broker and the trading conditions offered to clients, which are summarised in this review. Each one of these is graded, and an overall score is calculated and assigned to the broker.

HotForex Risk Statement

Trading Forex is risky, and each broker is required to detail how risky the trading of Forex CFDs is to clients. Capital Index would like you to know that: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 77% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs and spread bets with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs and spread bets work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Overview

Capital Index is a traditional broker focused on delivering the best services to a self-sufficient experienced trader. With support for the MT4 platform, regulation and oversight from the FCA in the United Kingdom, and industry awards recognising this commitment to delivering STP/ECN trading services, Capital Index has a niche all to themselves.

Traders who are looking for tighter spreads and better trading conditions, with a focus on a quality trading environment above marketing campaigns, will find Capital Index a welcome choice.
